"Last year in July 2024, a team from TERRA X; a German TV documentary channel, approached us and asked us if they could film onboard our tuna fishing operation. They wanted to learn about how the tuna industry both the fishing and processing is impacting the PNG economy, marine ecosystem, and people. It is the best way to film and share what is going on onboard the tuna purse seiner industry.
After talking to our FIA PNG Chairman & President Sylvester Pokajam and with the support of one of our Fishing Company members, Frabelle Fishing agreed to embark two (2) cameramen onboard one (1) of the fishing vessels for a Tuna Fishing Trip in the Economic Exclusive Zone of Papua New Guinea ( EEZ PNG). The days onboard are beautifully captured in this short documentary showing what we are doing in the right way.
The Terra X journalist team also interviewed David Karis, responsible for monitoring the tuna industry on behalf of the National Fishery Authority (NFA) of Papua New Guinea, and Marcelo Hidalgo, our Sustainability and CSR Director.
This documentary was launched officially on the 2DF channel in Germany on the 25th of August 2024. According to a local survey,
